Tanning Tips for Summer - Get sun kissed, while preventing sunburn.
A well tanned body always
looks healthy, but take it slow in the sun and avoid over
exposure on those first few days in the sun. There's little
point in rushing your tan, as it can do more damage to
your body than any good. Here's how you could achieve a great
golden tan by using sunburn prevention savvy. No one wants that sun-shocked
red look now do they?
There's enough evidence to prove that the sun can cause
premature ageing of skin, but its not all doom and gloom for
sun lovers. So here are some great tanning tips for the
beach to help sun soakers acquire a natural healthy tan with
the least side effects.
Buy a quality sunscreen - preferably water resistant too.
Sunscreen protection should
be as important to us as brushing our teeth. A good
sunscreen lotion will help minimize any ageing effects
to the elasticity of your skin. Cosmetic companies are
offering advanced formulated sun care products that will
help us enjoy the outdoors. Some tanning lotions now
actually have amino acids and vitamins that stimulate the
skins production of tanning pigment and this can speed up
you tanning process up to 4 times faster.
SPF (sun protection factor)
must be chosen correctly. The SPF of a sunscreen indicate
its effectiveness against shielding your skin against the
UVB (burning) rays of the sun.
A sunscreen with SPF 15 will allow you to stay in the sun 15
times longer than without a sunscreen before you burn.
If you have a light skin tone
that burns easily its important to use a higher SPF lotion, remember to
re-apply the sunscreen after swimming.
With the advanced sun care products available on the market
these days there's no excuse to damage your skin in the sun
this summer. Enjoy.
Timing is everything.
Contrary to what some may
believe sun burns don't turn into golden tans, so set off
to get a good base tan first and gradually build up your tan over
time. If you are going on holiday to spend some time in the
sun at the beach, don't leave it to the last few days of
your vacation to get a tan, make it part of your daily
leisure from the start.
One should avoid midday sun, when the sun is directly
overhead the sun is at its most intense as ultraviolet rays
are much shorter at this time of day.
Don't fall to the temptation of trying to get that summer
tan on the first day of your vacation. At the very least you
will most likely end up with sun stroke or skin
damage.
Start off with shorter periods of exposure and gradually
increase the time you spend tanning, till you reach that
light golden tan you've wanted for summer.
If you can't avoid being in
the sun over noon, then use a higher SFP over this period.
People often forget their scalp when sun tanning. If you're
planning to spend lots of time in the sun, Get a beach hat
or cap...you scalp needs protection for the sun too.
